My house is a wreck. Dust and more dust everywhere. It's amazing how much dust sanding plaster can make. I'm behind on laundry and way behind on getting The Kid, The Toddler and Myself ready for school. I need a day where everyone is OUT of the house so I can spend the entire day cleaning w/o interruption. While I know that I'm going to love our bathroom once it is finished, now that we are near the end of this project, I just want it finished.
I wonder if there is a 24 hour laundrymat around here ..... I'm tempted to go there and get all of my laundry done at once.

I used an industrial cleaner that I thought was going to burn the tips of my fingers off. It even ate through the latex gloves I wore. But as you can see, it does an amazing job! That and a lot of elbow grease.

Flower Bed Damage

I should have said ... the damage was from our wonderful freeze-thaw-freeze-again Cleveland weather. That and the wannabe-handyman-former-owner that thought he knew how to remodel and didn't have a clue. The flower boxes didn't have drainage tubes and were not built well. They LOOKED fine, unless you started looking closely ... too bad we didn't look close enough before we bought the house.
Actually it's fine w/ me that the wall fell. I have wanted it gone for 2 yrs and this spring I was planning on ripping it out anyway ... now it HAS to be done :)
We also have to have a huge tree removed .... anyone know of a good tree service? Let me know ... it's too big for us to do.

First, I want to thank all the people that have emailed, sent flowers, cards, phone calls and well wishes. It has really helped me get thru this bump in the road.
Second, You know your a knitting junky when your in the ER having a heart attack and you ask the nurse not to put the IV in the back of your hand because it would interfere with your knitting. (Is there a Bitch Badge for that?lol) Then get annoyed when she doesn't listen. Ever hopeful, I guess :)
I have to incorporate some serious life style changes ... healthy diet, exercise and not taking things so f'ing seriously. Seriously.
I'm thinking that if I put this nitroglycerin patch on the back of my hand ... I'll be able to crochet faster ... maybe I'll try that another day. lol :D

So, while visiting Erin at the NASA study I was busy working on a Granny Square baby blanket (very cute by the way, pics later). I caused me to wonder how big the worlds largest granny square is.

Wallgreens SUCK

My doc called in a script today to Walgreens for 3 pills (5400Pearl Rd, Parma), not a drug I normally take. My husband just went to pick them up. $12 for ONE, however if I buy 30 it's $20.
so ... $12 each or 70 CENTS each ...
If someone told me this story, I would have a VERY hard time believing it.
I was told the extra expense was a 'dispensing fee' It seems to me that it would be more to dispense 30 pills than to dispense 1. I was told that the lower the number of pills, the higher the fee.
I'm appalled, amazed ... and ... w/o medication. I just sent him back to return it, I have no idea if they will take it. Can they even dispense a medication that has been returned? I don't know.
The pharmacist name is Jackie Parson, I'm not sure of the spelling, she said her name rather quickly. Their phone number is 440.886.6233
Please call Walgreens and complain. This is just criminal in my opinion.

I wanted to go to the sewing expo this weekend .. but decided not to. I think I have been spoiled for expos for good. Soon after my 2nd daughter was born I was dying to get out of the house and went to the "baby expo" I guess I was expecting something about babies, but ended up finding this Tupperware Party on steroids. Everyone wanted to sell something .. it got old. Fast.
So ... I was afraid of having the same type of experience at the sewing expo. Instead I took the money that I would have spent on the entry fee (another thing that bothers me, I have to spend money to get into a place to SPEND more money? Huh? wtf is w/ that?) and bought "Happy Hooker," a nice pile of yarn, a few needles and a few hooks. I'm all set for knitting and crochet for a while.

The Irish Hiking Scarf is finished! IMO it's rather short, but I think that men's scarves are shorter. ?? maybe. I hope ??
I have started my second IHS. I think I am going to rip it out and try a more complex cable pattern. I LOVE doing cable work, I had no idea how easy it is.
I'll post a pic in the morning. It's 4:08 a.m. and I'm waiting for the teapot to whistle. The Kid has been up vomiting (thanks DH for cleaning the vomit off of the floor). I have a feeling that by the time the tea is made, she will be sleeping again. I hope.

why I like to knit, part 1

One of the reasons I enjoy knitting is that it allows me to gather my thoughts on a particular subject or life event, weather that be contemplating my next educational endeavor, how to best deal with a child who happens to have a disability, dealing conflict, dealing with success or even a successful conflict, or what yarn to pick next.
My thoughts as of late:
It's interesting how if a person doesn't take a particular path they are considered the 'bad guy.' I'm happy that I choose not to make those that do not share my exact view point into villains. (I know this is a bit of a leap here, but *I* get it) I guess that just goes in keeping w/ my long time philosophy that what a person says about someone tells more about that person, than the one they were talking about.
Anyway, back to knitting. I'm almost done w/ the Irish Hiking Scarf, pics when I get my cam fixed.

Knit Picks, SnB, Life goes on ...

Well, I was going to make my Knit Picks order this morning .. but I just can't make up my mind! Too many yarns, not enough time. I really need to create a project list. My knitting is pretty moody ... it's difficult for me to plan projects.

The drama of my local SnB has really gotten to me. Going to meetings is pretty much the only thing I get to do that is 'mine'. More than likely I'll be quitting, I guess I'll see how the drama plays out. What it boils down to: Some People would like Other People not to attend because Some People are afraid they will offend Other People. Even though Other People have never claimed to be offended. Amazing. Really, I have been out of high school for almost 20 years, I'm too impatient and too busy to deal w/ high school drama/exclusionary behavior from adults.

I love going to SnB but right now I'm embarrassed to be a member. I met someone at an event today, she was wearing a wonderful hand knit hat. I wanted to invite her, but couldn't do it. Sad really.

Irish Hiking Scarf

I started the Irish Hiking Scarf posted on http://knitwitgirly.blogspot.com/ (thanks Jennifer) It's lookin' gooood. I'm using 100% wool from a sweater that I bought at the thrift store a few months ago, when wool sweaters were going to 2 bucks each! I love to use recycled yarn. I think the pattern calls for size 8 needles .. but I'm going w/ 9's. The wool looks all the better for it. (That and I couldn't find my 8's when I was starting.)
I'm not sure who is going to get the scarf for Christmas ... I may just end up keeping it for myself ... of course .. that means I'll need a matching coat .. then new boots ... and ... well .. I'll HAVE to knit a hat ... I may as well get a new outfit while I'm at it. hehe No wonder I live to knit! :)

I am currently working on a knitted dress for The Toddler (pink Egyptian cotton w/ a fabric skirt)

I ripped the scarf out ... it was curling *way* to much and I just can't see putting the work into it when it's not perfect. (I didn't think rib stitch would curl, but I guess my 4/2 pattern didn't work w/ this yarn.
I'm going to try the "Interlocking Balloons" pattern again. I suck at charts, maybe I'll just type out the directions.

I'm currently working my husband's Christmas gift, a scarf (what a shock). It's Peruvian Tweed, quite the "manly yarn." It's a simple rib stitch of 4P2K rib. Size 6 needles. Yes *I* said SIX. lol I went against my better judgment and went below a 7. This thing is going to take me forever to finish lol ... good thing my husband is short!
I'm also working on Shannon's sweater ... while I love the home spun yarn, both the look and knitting w/ it. I have decided that I don't want Denise needles. The chord is to thick and the yarn does not slide smoothly around the circulars. I spend more time moving the project around the needles than I do actually knitting.

And, I have about a zillion UNFINISHED projects laying around here that are driving me batty. I made a bag for a friend's birthday (last month) and I'm STILL Not done w/ it. I'm done w/ all the yarn work AND the sewing work, however I ordered a handle over 2 months ago and it's still not in :( pout. I just hope she doesn't hate me.
I also started a granny square skirt for my 6 year old, after completing about 40 mini squares she informs me that it is "weird" OK ... yes, it IS weird .. That's why it's cool! She doesn't see it the same way. I think I'll end up making the squares into a tree skirt.
Speaking of tree skirt, my Christmas tree is U G L Y ... yep .. It's horrible. This year I have sworn that I will ONLY have hand made ornaments. I'm trying to get some of my crafty friends together for an ornament exchange :) ... we will see how that goes. I have a yahoo group set up ... I just need to start inviting people.

All ornaments MUST be hand made, knitting, sewing, ANYTHING :) and there is a minimum requirement of 4 with a maximum of 10, remember the more you give the more you get :) They do not have to be all the same or they can be, it's totally up to you :)
